Who are we?
Cinefilles.ca is a leading online Canadian film and television magazine giving female critics and writers a space to explore and evaluate stories created by and for women. Cinefilles exists to support young female writers and champion marginalized voices in the film and entertainment industries, with a focus on independent and international movies.
Our coverage includes reviews, interviews, opinion pieces, news stories, and analysis. We especially like to highlight work written, directed, or created by women. We invite any writers interested in becoming a fille to check out our sections and email us if interested in becoming a regular writer. Our regular sections are:
- TV reviews

What we’re looking for in our writers
We’re currently looking for femalewriters interested in reporting, reviewing, or commenting on films, TV, and/or entertainment culture specifically from a female perspective. For both TV and film reviews, we’re not looking for simple overviews or summaries. We’re looking forwriters who are inspired and engaged in the arts and aware of trends in film and television criticism. The Manic Pixie Dream Girl, The Bechdel Test, the male gaze: these are probably things you have strong opinions about. We want you to join the discussion! Give us your evaluations, opinions, and reactions. The stronger, the better. Though Cinefilles is unable to financially compensatewriters are this time (we’re working on it), we do our best to give ourwriters access to screeners, festival passes, interviews, and advanced screenings.
